This site, developed by the US Enviromental Protection Agency, has information
about reducing energy consumption through the use of natural landscaping.
While some of the information focuses on the Great Lakes region of the
United States it contains a good deal of general information about using
natives that will be useful in Missouri and surrounding states.
Missouri Department of Conservation Private Land Services

The Private Land Services Division of MDC includes a dedicated staff of
resource professionals called Private Land Consultants (PLC) that work
with landowners to improve forest, fish and wildlife conditions on their
property. The mission of this Division is to help Missouri landowners
achieve their land use objectives in ways that enhance the conservation
of Missouris natural resources. Private Land Conservationists will provide
personal one-on-one service and can help you inventory your property
to decide what steps are needed to attain your goals. They will help
you plan land use and prescribe burns and can recommend local professional

Plant Conservation Alliance

The PCA is a consortium of ten federal government member agencies and more
than 225 non-federal cooperators representing various disciplines within
the conservation field: biologists, botanists, habitat preservationists,
horticulturists, resources management consultants, soil scientists, special
interest clubs, non-profit organizations, concerned citizens, nature
lovers, and gardeners. PCA Members and Cooperators work collectively
to solve the problems of native plant extinction and native habitat restoration,

The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) is the federal government
agency that works hand-in-had with people to conserve natural resources
on private lands. Using scientific and technical expertise, and partnerships
with Soil and Water Conservation Districts (SWCD) and others, they help
conserve all natural resources on private lands.
