2024 Missouri Native Grasslands Summit: April 9, 10, & 11

April 9 - April 11

The Missouri Department of Conservation, CFM, and the Missouri Natural Resources Conservation Service are spearheading this statewide event in Jefferson City, designed for attendees to take a collective look into Missouri’s native grassland ecosystems, from remnant prairies to working lands establishment and management, and collaborate with ideas and solutions to reverse the current trend in habitat loss.

Presentations will include information on the management of native grasses for grazing, protection of remnant prairies, soil ecology, the biology of the full breadth of Missouri’s native grassland natural communities, and urban grasslands. Input will be gathered from attendees on how best to increase the adoption of native grasses for grazing and other uses and protect Missouri’s remaining prairies. Recommendations from the summit will be shared with the leadership of partner organizations that have an interest in Missouri’s native grasslands.

MPF is an active member of the Summit’s agenda committee and a Summit sponsor, as is MPF’s Grow Native! program. MPF Director of Prairie Management Jerod Huebner, MPF Technical Advisors Steve Clubine and Mike Leahy, and MPF Executive Director Carol Davit are among the presenters. All are welcome to attend. Registration is open now at confedmo.org/grasslands.

A Missouri Native Grassland Lifetime Achievement Award will be awarded at the Summit.  Learn how to nominate someone who has made an outstanding contribution to the cause of native grasslands here.
