Glade Ecology Hike at Chute Ridge with Jeff Cantrell

May 20 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm CDT

Tall pale purple coneflowers and bright violet flowers in green field

Join MPF Technical Advisor Jeff Cantrell for a bushwhacking, rock-hopping trek to the top of Chute Ridge in the Mark Twain National Forest near Roaring River in Barry County. It’s an ascent worth the effort! This dolomite glade is a regional favorite featuring stunning wildflowers at all levels of the ridge. There are no designated trails, so we will practice Leave No Trace (LNT) methods and have a brief introduction on what we expect to discover in the parking lot of Roaring River Conservation Area (just outside Roaring River State Park). A camera and trekking pole are highly recommended. Hike will be about 1.5 miles. Dress for the weather and walking in a prairie, and bring water and sun protection.

Note: Hike will be held rain or shine. Registrants will be notified in the event we need to reschedule due to severe weather.

Cost: Free. Maximum registration: 12 people

Secure your spot by emailing Jeff at Jeff.Cantrell@mdc.mo.gov. Directions will be emailed to registrants before the field trip.

For those who are part of the Grow Native! Professional Certification Program (GNPCP), this opportunity counts as 2 CEUs.
