Madison County Stormwater Management

The Stormwater Management Program is staffed by the Stormwater Coordinator with assistance from other Building & Zoning Department programs and Madison County departments, including the Highway Department and Emergency Management. Planning staff also works closely with the Madison County Soil & Water District in regard to watershed planning issues and the enforcement of NPDES permits.

The Stormwater Coordinator is responsible for reviewing development proposals within FEMA’s Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA). These steps are necessary for residents’ properties in Madison County to remain enrolled in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) and Community Rating System (CRS). Coordinator is responsible for tending to counties stormwater management plans, including managing the MS4 permit program and various stormwater projects.
