Slender Mountain Mint (Pycnanthemum tenuifolium)
Distinguishing Characteristics
Smooth, square stem. Numerous pairs of slender leaflets. Branching occurs at the leaf axils. Leaves have mint aroma when crushed.

Description
Flower, in dense, half-round heads, are usually white and, but are occasionally a light lavender. The upper lip is not lobed, while the lower lip has three distinct lobes.
Comments
Found in tallgrass prairie region in glades, savannas, and open woodlands. Commonly used in seeding mixes and is easy to establish from seed. Good nectar source for insects.
