Reflections on Urban Native Gardening: Practical Advice for Homeowners as well as Beginning Professionals
Cody Hayo will discuss the rewards and challenges of starting and operating a native plant focused landscaping business in an urban area. Cody will highlight case studies over five years in gardens ranging in size from 10 square feet to 10,000 square feet. Cody will break down maintenance costs for homeowners in time and dollars, and installation costs using a professional and in materials only. Cody’s examples of completed projects, including stormwater management garden designs will help homeowners and professionals.
The webinar, to be held via Zoom, will be 45 minutes including a question and answer session. The webinar will be recorded, and sent to all registrants as well as posted to our YouTube channel.

Cody Hayo, owner of Pretty City Gardens and Landscapes (established 2014), operates within 10 miles of South Saint Louis City. Cody has worked in the landscaping field since 2007 and holds a Certificate of Horticulture from Meramec Community College. He has been a featured speaker at the Partners for Native Landscaping conference highlighting his firm’s work on stormwater management and will be serving as President of the Landscape Nursery Association of Greater St. Louis in 2021. Outside of work Cody enjoys volunteering his time in his neighborhood green spaces as a way to connect his professional life with his community.
